Mechanical Engineering department was established in the academic year 2011-12.The department is offering four year B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) with an intake of 60 students during academic year 2011-12. The intake in U.G Programme was increased from 60 to 120 in the academic year 2012-13. The strength of the department lies with its well qualified and experienced faculty. The faculty is a combination of well academic qualification, enriched teaching experience and vide industrial exposure. The department is having well equipped laboratories beyond JNTU curriculum, and provides excellent facilities to encourage research. The department organizes various programs like seminars, Guest Lectures, paper presentations, Group Discussion and Industrial Visits to enhance the competencies of our students. The highlight of our department is that it is housed in a separate block that accommodates the basic infrastructure viz. Laboratories, Lecture Halls, Drawing Halls, Seminar Hall and Student development Centre, e-class room

Head of the Department:
Mr.Dasari.Govardhan has obtained his B.E. (Mechanical), M.E. (Turbo machinery) from University College of Engineering (Autonomous), Osmania University and pursuing Ph.D (Mechanical) from University College of Engineering (Autonomous), Osmania University. He has put up 4+ years of industrial experience and 14 years of teaching, research and administrative experience. He has handled responsible administrative positions in various engineering colleges like Vice-Principal, Head-Department of Mech Engg, M.Tech Course co-ordinator, Academic Committee member. He has also worked as Assoc. Professor in various engineering colleges in Telangana state. Presently he is Head, Dept. of Mechanical Engg at Joginpally B R Engineering College.
He has published many technical papers in National and International Journals and conferences. He has also delivered invited talks in various engineering colleges on different topics in mechanical engineering. His areas of interest include Engineering Mechanics, Design, Heat Transfer, Turbo machinery.

1. Engineering Workshop
Engineering Workshop is a place where students acquire knowledge on the operation of various processes involved in manufacturing and production. The Workshop Practice course makes students competent in handling practical work in engineering environment. In this workshop students are enabled in basic mechanical operations like fitting, carpentry, foundry and smithy. The following workshop practices are given to the students. This workshop develops the creative skill of the future engineers
2. Metallurgy & Mechanics of Solids Lab
The purpose of metallurgy and Mechanics of Solids laboratory is to make students conduct experiments to determine the magnitude of stress and strains acting in a material which can be further used to determine other material properties. In order that students have a good understanding of the theory underlying the experiments

The production technology Laboratory course aims to impart the knowledge about various manufacturing processes. It deals with metal casting, metal forming plastic molding and metal joining processes. After this course, a student will have a good exposure about the manufacturing processes and various operations and machinery. This also gives the recent trends in these processes also.
6. Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machinery Lab
The purpose of Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machinery laboratory is to reinforce and enhance the understanding of the fundamental concepts of Fluid mechanics and Hydraulic machines. The experiments here are designed to demonstrate the applications of the basic fluid mechanics principles and to provide a more intuitive and physical understanding of the theory. This lab has ample facilities for conducting fluid flow experiments.
7. Machine Tools Lab
Machine tools are power driven machines used by the mechanical engineers for imparting the desired size and shape to a work piece with the desired accuracy by removing the excess metal in the form of chips. In the machine tool lab, the student performs different operations in the lathe such as taper turning, thread cutting, grooving etc.
8.Metrology Lab
The Metrology lab provides the students with an active learning environment of measurement technologies used in production engineering field.
The laboratory course covers,various measurements like Linear, Angular Measurement, Level Measurement, Surface Roughness, etc. Students use the laboratory to collect and analyze measurement data, evaluate measurement methodologies, and learn the capabilities and limitations of measurement technologies.
9.Thermal Engineering Lab
The objective of this laboratory is to provide the student a good environment to understand some very important concepts and applications in the field of IC engines and refrigeration. The primary purpose of the laboratory is to show students the experimental methods on thermal energies on various engines and demonstrate their operational procedures. These values can be further used to determine other fuel properties.
10. Heat Transfer Lab
This Lab contributes to the educational process as the students can study free and forced convection in flat surfaces, Fins exchanger etc. Also, they can study the dependence of the heat transmission with the temperature, speed of the fluid and the exchanger geometry. thereby student can link between what they have learned from the theoretical material and what he is doing in the lab
11. Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Lab
The Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Laboratory, encompasses designing of geometric and solid modeling, computer graphics and visualization. Topics include Introduction to computer-aided drafting using CAD software and sketching to generate two- and three-dimensional drawings based on the conventions of engineering graphical communication.
12. Instrumentation Lab
The main aim of this lab is to guide the students in measuring velocity of fluid, Humidity, Fluid Density, Temperature and so on. The lab is equipped with Temperature Measuring Devices, Displacement Measuring Device, Various Strain gauges, Speed measuring Device, etc.. Sensors and Transducers include Pressure Sensors and manometers, Flow meters, LVDTs, Strain Gages, Thermocouples, and RTDs etc

Library is the fertile source of information to the engineers. The library is embellished with a good number of volumes of books, journals, periodicals, technical magazines and e-journals. The library is kept open in all working days and also during vacation.
